Urinary Tract Infection is an infection of any parts of our urinary tract
and usually occurs in women. Although men are also susceptible to this bacterial
infection, a woman’s anatomy is more prone to it. Once the bacteria enters
the urethra, it can easily travel to the bladder, kidney and other parts of
the human’s urinary tract. When the number of bacterial cells increases in
our urinary tract, then UTI occurs. Kidney infection is more serious than
bladder infection and can lead to more health complications.
Many UTI patients complain that it can go from mildly to extremely painful,
UTI is in fact easy to cure. Taking antibiotics prescribed by a physician
for a week would cure it. Usually, when a person feels the symptoms that go
with it, he is asked to undergo a laboratory test called urinalysis. Urinalysis
involves taking a sample (a few ml) of the urine at examining its composition.
The human’s urine normally contains salts, fluids and even a few bacteria.
If, however, the bacteria is beyond the normal range, the person can be classified
as having Urinary Tract Infection.
People with UTI suffer from mild fevers signifying body infection. Pains and
cramps in the abdominal or back regions are also very common, same as chills
and vomiting in worse cases. For most, urinating is difficult because of a
burning sensation or the feeling of needing to urinate frequently. In some
cases, blood is present in the urine. Many also complain of the need urinate
as frequent as six to eight times a day. Pregnant women are also more open
to these infections so they should take extra precaution as it can be passed
on to the baby.
It is important to take note that while Urinary Tract Infection is quite painful
and easy to acquire, it is also easy to cure if the promptly diagnosed and
treated. It is important to take only antibiotics prescribed by the doctors
and to fully continue taking it for the prescribed period. Many of the symptoms
may disappear after on the first few days of antibiotic treatment but it can
only be fully cured after the prescription period.
