The past four weeks had been a bit of a hell for me. I cannot accurately describe it here but for me, it was still unbelievable.

Normally, this my usual daily routine… wake up at 6:30 am, have coffee and breakfast at home, bathe and dress up for work… all these done is about 45 minutes. Then I would drive for around 30 minutes, beating traffic while singing along the way. By 7:45 am, I would be in the office having my second cup of coffee and retouching my makeup before I face my day of work. At around 5 or 6 pm (depending on my work load), I would be getting ready to go. I would either have dinner at home with my mom and sister or have a quick night out with friends. Then my routine would be the same until Friday and have a relaxing weekend.

Four weeks ago, while I was at the office, my colleagues noticed that I would often be gone from my desk and run to the bathroom for about 6 times a day. At times, I would hold my pee and just do it at lunch. On those times, however, I find it difficult to pee… I felt a kind of indescribable pain near my abdomen and my genitals each time urine passes. On the second, I had recurring fevers and chills during sleep. Thinking that these were just normal and that I was just overworking myself, I took a day off from work. Unexpectedly, I felt worse and I noticed that my urine had a slightly different color and can be described as cloudy.

I still let it pass. Finally, on the second week of these signs, I finally got the nerve to go to our company doctor. I had been imagining things: that I was pregnant or that I had a sexually transmitted disease… both of which were untrue. After a urine and blood test, the doctor ruled out pregnancy and STD and I found out that all I had was urinary tract infection. Relieved, the doctor prescribed some antibiotics that I must take for 10 days. Now, amazingly, I am fully treated and back on my busy routine. It pays to be prompt in treating such infections or else, it would definitely ruin a working woman’s busy schedule.
